A group of nature lovers, wild life enthusiasts and eco conservationists during one of their escapades in the hinterland of Sakleshpur, fortuitously set their foot on an unexplored terrain almost 2 decades back. A mesmerizing topography bordering reserve forest near the elephant corridor, surrounded by mountains, shola forests, coffee plantations and natural streams is what greeted us.

It appeared as though we were at the edge of civilization as the road ended several miles back. A hidden landscape with hues of green all over had been discovered albeit out of the blue. The serene environment was truly a heaven on earth experience - indeed, a secret paradise in the lap of nature amidst the picturesque Western Ghats.

We wanted to get out, get lost and experience solitude where the Road Ends and Life Begins. True Life is Greener on the Other Side. For us the Other Side is beyond Agani Village, in Hanbal Taluka of Sakleshpur, Hassan District of Karnataka.

Awestruck with this enthralling sight, our group instantaneously got into a conversation on how this destination could be nurtured into a secluded vacation hot spot in an accountable manner by minimally interfering with nature.

We soon realized the challenges were many, more so as we wanted this project to be a harbinger of responsible tourism. Also, our aim was to protect & preserve the virgin environment and facilitate local population to be a part of this process.

Though our property is spread over 16 acres, we consciously decided to develop just around 5 acres as the topography merged into mountain, forest, mountain stream, natural pond in a seamless manner.

As the property is located at the periphery of forests in Agani Gudda, on the fringes of Shiradi Ghat, we christened the property as Tusk & Dawn. Our dream led to the setting up of first Jungle Resort in Sakleshpur in mid-2000.

Tacitly speaking, even as Tusk & Dawn is now popularly referred as Jungle Resort, we take pride in claiming that we are neither a resort nor a home-stay. While the facilities, hospitality & ambience match up to the expectation of a resort, the service, food & individual care meet the ethos of personalized home-stay.

We have discovered a secret & unexplored destination which mother nature had hidden deep in the midst of mountains & forests. Now for over a decade our esteemed guests have been experiencing the nature across all seasons.

What satisfies us in our journey is that our guests keep coming again and again just to relax & rejuvenate in this physical world at Tusk & Dawn for a tranquil experience by spending quality time with their family & friends.
